Jimmy Vesey Signing with the New York Rangers could be a good thing.
Vesey not coming to his hometown is a big knock and makes many wonder what did the Bruins do for him to not sign with them. I mean How can someone who grew up in Boston played College hockey in Boston and is most likley a Boston sports fan not sign with the Bruins? What did management say to him, one of my thoughts is that Vesey did not want to play for Claude casue if he grew up here then he knows that Claude Julien has a hard on for Veterans with no offensive talent and some defensive talent, players like Chris Kelly, and Brian Campbell, who I thank them for waht they did while with the club but the League is moving in a new direction and those gritty players are becoming less needed, nad the young fast less defensive more offensivce players are up and coming like Tyler Seguin, who is on of the best kids in the league right now. If Claude was not here I think the Bruins may have been able to sign Jimmy Vesey. Maybe this was a good thing.
This will allow the Bruins to give a full time position to kids like Seth Griffith or Frank Vatrano who is a 22 year-old forward who was the best player in the AHL this past season and who also played very well when he was here in boston. Frank had 8 goals and 3 assists in 39 games with the Bruins this past season but his AHL numbers were off the charts he had 36 goals and 19 assists in 36 games with the Providence Bruins and had a plus 21.
The Benefits of adding someone like Vatrano instead of Vessey is that we know that Vatrano can play under Claude Julien. Also Vatrano will come at a cheaper price than Vesey, and he is a potential top 6 forward. His cheap price will help Sewwney use the rest of the cap to hopefully find some more defense casue as of right now the Bruins Defense is very mediocre.
The defense as of now is:
Zdeno Chara, Torey Krug, John-Michael Liles, Adam Mcquaid, Colin Miller, Kevin Miller, and Joe Morrow, with many prospects possibly able to make the roster like Matt Grzelcyk, Charlie Mcavoy, and Brandon Carlo.
So adding a key piece to the defense would be a big help and allow the Bruins to actually have a good defensive core.
