Boston Red Sox Rumor: Opening Day Starting Lineup Predictions
With pitchers and catchers reporting just around the corner for Spring Training and many players already in attendance in Fort Myers I decided to come up with some potential lineups for John Farrell to use come Opening Day.
Optimal Opening Day Lineup:
- 2B Dustin Pedroia
- LF Andrew Benintendi
- RF Mookie Betts
- DH Hanley Ramirez
- SS Xander Bogaerts
- 3B Pablo Sandoval
- 1B Mitch Moreland
- C Sandy Leon
- CF Jackie Bradley Jr.
The lineup has performed better with Dustin at the top despite his hatred for being there,
Alternative Opening Day Lineup:
- Benny Baseball
This version switches Betts into the leadoff and Pedey to the 3 along with swapping Leon and Moreland’s place in the lineup.
Very Unlikely Hail Mary Bring Back The GOAT Lineup:
Some Starting Rotation Ideas:
- Rick Porcello (Reigning CY Young)
- Chris Sale
- David Price
- Eduardo Rodriguez
- Drew Pomeranz
- Steven Wright
I still think the ball gets handed off to Pretty Ricky since he is the Cy Young winner and is a veteran in the clubhouse entering his third year with the Boston Red Sox. Sale gets the ball in game two since his name isn’t David Price. And Price gets the third slot but can work his way up into the top 2 if Sale goes down with an injury or Porcellblow comes out to play.
A lot of the thoughts I have are early and are likely to develop and change leading up to Opening Day.
