Harvard Defeats Boston University
Harvard wins first Beanpot since 1993.
Harvard defeated Boston University 6-2, also Boston College lost the Consolation game to Northeastern 4-2.
Harvard University coached by former Bruin Ted Donato, led the Crimson to their first victory 1993. Ted played for Harvard himself from 1987-91, and was a part of the 1989 team that won the Beanpot. He now coaches his son Ryan, and now they share the title together.
“It all happened so fast,” said Ryan Donato of his goal that extended Harvard’s lead to 5-2. “When the puck went in the net, it took me a little bit to realize that I scored.”

There was five Bruins prospects in the Beanpot
Willy Sherman, who is a tree standing at s foot 7 inches, played a great game on the Blueline for the Crimson. Sherman, was a fifth-round pick in the 2013 Draft. He finished at with an even plus/minus.
BU may not have won the game but the Boston Bruins did as two more prospects suited up for BU.
Phenom Charlie McAvoy, a 14 overall pick in the 2016 Draft, had a number of big impact hits in last nights game. Here is McAvoy with playing with potential future teammate Ryan Donato.
“Me and him are friends. We play together in the summer,” said Donato. “He’s a really nice kid, obviously. When it comes to game time, we’re enemies. After the game, we’re friends.”
The next is McAvoy’s fellow Terrier, JFK (Jakob Forsbacka-Karlsson). Harvard was able to keep JFK at bay which has been really hard for teams this year . He has 11 goals and 14 assists through 30 games this season.
JFK was a second round pick in the 2015 Draft, and is in his sophomore year along with teammate Charlie McAvoy.
The fifth prospect Ryan Fitzgerald, played for BC in the consolation game.
Fitzgerald, a fourth-round pick in the 2013 Draft, was not able to put up any points for the Eagles as thy struggled offensively. Currently in his Senior year which means his last Beanpot, has had quite a season so far, tallying 7 goals and 18 assists in 26 games.
The Bruins future looks good if all of these kids can produce like they are now, I hope to see wearing the spoked B soon.
