Donato named Player of the weekThis is quite an honor to go along with A Beanpot win for Ryan Donato
It was quite a good week for Harvard Sophomore Ryan Donato as on the Friday before the Beanpot he had four goals against Union. He did not stop once he got to the Beanpot, where he added another point to help bring the Crimson to a 6-3 victory over Boston University.
His Beanpot stats do not count towards league stats, so it was his four goals against Union that helped him earn the Star of the week title. In that game Donato had the first two and the last two goals of the game. The last two were both empty netters but a goal is a goal. One was a shorthanded goal, maybe he will be the new Brad Marchand when he comes up to the Boston Bruins.
Now back to the Beanpot, Donato’s point was an unbelievable goal, he picked up a loose puck, raced down the right win, cut to the net and beat BU goalie Jake Oettinger to give Harvard a 5-2 lead.
“It all happened so fast,” Donato said following the game Monday night. “When the puck went in the net, it took me a little bit to realize that I scored.”
