Donato named Player of the week

This is quite an honor to go along with A Beanpot win for Ryan Donato

It was quite a good week for Harvard Sophomore Ryan Donato as on the Friday before the Beanpot he had four goals against Union. He did not stop once he got to the Beanpot, where he added another point to help bring the Crimson to a 6-3 victory over Boston University.

His Beanpot stats do not count towards league stats, so it was his four goals against Union that helped him earn the Star of the week title. In that game Donato had the first two and the last two goals of the game. The last two were both empty netters but a goal is a goal. One was a shorthanded goal, maybe he will be the new Brad Marchand when he comes up to the Boston Bruins.

Now back to the Beanpot, Donato’s point was an unbelievable goal, he picked up a loose puck, raced down the right win, cut to the net and beat BU goalie Jake Oettinger to give Harvard a 5-2 lead.

“It all happened so fast,” Donato said following the game Monday night. “When the puck went in the net, it took me a little bit to realize that I scored.”

Other Prospects also awing

-Zach Senyshyn scored twice for the Soo Greyhounds Wednesday night in a 7-2 win over Sudbury. A 2015 first-round pick now has 35 goals which puts him fourth overall in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), with 48 points in only 46 games. Senyshyn has scored seven times in his last five games.

-Jeremy Lauzon (QMJHL) , another 2015 pick but in the second-round, picked up two assists in Rouyn-Noranda’s 2-1 victory over Val-d’Or Wednesday. Lauzon has 4 goals and 15 assists through 25 games.

-Jesse Gabrielle also had an assists in  his game against Spokane of the WHL. Prince George and Gabrielle mounted a 7-2 victory Wednesday. Another 2015 pick, fourth-round, has 26 goals and 22 assists in 48 games.
