Boston Celtics All-Star Guard Isaiah Thomas Wants To Win MVP

When the Boston Celtics traded for Isaiah Thomas they could not have predicted the success the guard has had here in Boston. His offensive productivity over the last three seasons has helped elevate the team into one of the Eastern Conferences best teams.

With Thomas now attending his second NBA All-Star game along with putting up top ten scoring numbers he is eyeing the NBA MVP trophy as one of his goals.

“One day, one of my goals is to be MVP of this league.” Thomas said. “They’ve never seen a small guy get it and that would be not just an achievement for myself, but all the little people out there.”

With Thomas though he is not a real MVP candidate due to his lack of defense and effort on that side of the court. To his defense though IT being on the shorter side is tougher to defend opponents who are generally a lot taller than him.

Unless the Celtics somehow get by the Cleveland Cavaliers into the top spot in the East I just cannot envision a scenario where IT is given the award. He might be deserving of it especially with his historic fourth quarter scoring number, but ultimately it is unlikely he gets the MVP nod.
