Tomac Wins Third In A Row, Webb Goes Down
This was yet another exiting event as there was a lot of position changes in both classes.
450 class Rookie Cooper Webb went down hard during the heat Race. Yamaha has issued a statement saying that it was indeed a shoulder injury. The Team in hopeful that he will be back for next week but he needs further evaluation.
This was the start of the 250 East championship, so we got a whole poll full of new names.
Jordon Smith took the holeshot, then there was a crash that took down two riders, which allowed Joey Savatgy to move into second. Smith was able to hold off Savatgy till about the halfway mark. Savatgy then the pass and made it stick as he led the final 10 laps of the race, to claim the first victory of the 250 east championship.
“I was able to start closing in on Jordon, and would have liked to make the pass [clean] to keep my flow going. But, we made pass and make it work from there,” said Savatgy. “It wasn’t a pretty Main Event by any means, so we still have work to do. It’s good to start the season like this. I didn’t ride my best, but we still got the win.”

There were some unusual faces at the holeshot line During the Main Event, one was Cole Seely, who earned the holeshot who has been good this year but has jut been out of reach of the podium. Next to him was Davi Millsaps who has had some trouble these past couple of years. Then Eli Tomac and Ryan Dungey would round out the top 4. We also saw the return of Justin Barcia.
In turn two or three Seely went down allowing Millsaps to take the lead. It did not take long for Tomac to make a pass on Millsaps, he was then closely followed by Dungey who also made the pass. This seemed as if it was going to be another Tomac VS Dungey battle but Tomac increased his lead and never looked back. Dungey did not have a good night as he seemed to become slower as the race went on which allowed teammate Marvin Musquin to pass him and take second place.
“That was a really tough race tonight. The track had a lot of crazy lines and was really tough. I felt like we did a lot of laps,” said Tomac. “I’m glad to get back on our feet after last week [finishing 15th] and get back to where we were the weeks before that. This was the toughest race of the season so far.”
This was a tough track as many fell victim to the big ruts. One was 2 time Champ Chad Reed, and Cole Seely.
