Boston Bruins Trade Rumors:Team Has Kicked The Tires On Halak According To Report
Boston Bruins GM Don Sweeney has made it clear that the team is likely going to be very quite on Wednesday’s NHL trade deadline, he also reiterated his support for the teams current backup goaltender Anton Khudobin while at the same time mentioning that he has had talks with other teams to bring in another goalie.
“Anton [Khudobin] has played well for us in the last couple of starts,” said Sweeney. “I think it’s an area…it was certainly an area of concern for us. I’ve had some discussions [about trades for backup goalies], yes.”
Halak is currently playing in the AHL for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers after getting demoted earlier this season. Halak is 31-years-old and hails from Slovakia. This season in the AHL he has posted a 14-2-1 record with a .933 save percentage and a 1.91 goals against average after posting a .904 save percentage and 3.23 goals against average in 21 games for the Islanders this season.
According to NHL Network analyst Kevin Weekes, the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames are also interested in Halak’s services.
Kudobin has won back-to-back games for the Boston Bruins and for that reason I think the Bruins will not trade for Halak or any other back-up goaltender.
